Black Friday phenomenon in Europe, is it just another sales tactic or can we really bag a bargain??

Traditionally Black Friday is on the day after Thanksgiving in America and regarded as the start of the Christmas shopping season. It has now made its way over to this side of the world and is fast becoming more of a phenomenon than the post-Christmas day sales.

TV adverts, online promotions, direct mail – our inboxes are filling up with emails designed to entice us to part with our hard earned cash. So how do you ensure that your brand gets a look in with all of this?

This year, brands are creating ad campaigns around this sales event that are showing signs of creativity and allowing them to stand out from the crowd.

Here are a just a few examples of brands that have utilised the Black Friday event to develop a play on words that help captures the imagination of their target audience with the goal of increasing sales, but with the objective of also developing brand awareness.

Aer Lingus – Happy Flyday….

Virginmedia was brave and went against the grain and change the name… a bridge too far?

Happy Black Friday, hope you bagged a bargain and if you have missed today’s sales, don’t worry there’s alway Cyber Monday!
