Mary Helow
Bachelor of Arts, Communications, University of the Pacific, California
With a degree in Communications, Mary has always believed that working collaboratively breeds success. She began her career in San Francisco in the mid-90’s in trade marketing for Levi Strauss & Co., managing complex logistical shop roll-outs across more than 200 stores per year for Macy’s department store.
For the next 10+ years, she worked on both client and agency sides, in a variety of roles, all with the same objective – to help brands work better. From guiding projects through the agency process (traffic manager), to making creative direct mail concepts a reality (production director), to launching preschool videos in a saturated market (brand manager), she’s always strived to find creative ways to solve problems, for companies such as Apple, Norwegian Cruise Lines, Genentech and LeapFrog.
Mary traded the Golden Gate Bridge for the cobblestone streets of Dublin in 2005 and has helped shape Irish brands ever since. From guiding a new company through the early stages of brand generation to managing the day-to-day requirements of intensive launches, her focus is on understanding the people behind a brand, getting to the heart of the challenges they face and developing approaches that are unique, personal and effective. She’s worked with Irish brands such Deep Riverrock, Digicel, Adare Manor, Maxol, West Coast Cooler and daa.
From a very young age Mary has identified as a Trekkie – her very first crush was on Captain Kirk and from what we can tell she’s not quite over him yet. Never one to do things by halves, Mary balances her religious devotion to Star Trek with a hard-core love of The Stone Roses.
